[Cue Summer]

That’s right…summer is here. We’ve been out of school for a week now, but I’m just starting to enjoy it. The problem is…I’m bored. I have only a few things to do for school and orchestra, but I won’t be going on any trips or anything.

A lot of my summer will be centered on summer reading for next semester’s Honors English class. Here’s what I’m reading:

  • Tender Is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
  • The Awakening by Kate Chopin
  • Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut

Then we have to do projects on all three. That includes a paper with parenthetical endnotes, a poetry/short story response, and an artistic response.

As you might have gotten so far, I like to write. But I don’t like being told what to write about. That’s why on our school’s standardized tests in on-demand writing, I never did that great. I ponder about what I’m going to write. And then, of course, write it in one sitting and go back to revise it.

I got a good idea for a short story the other day. It involved a hobo. I’ve been thinking on it for a week or so, so I think I’ll write it tonight. It shall be up by tomorrow.

Anyhow, have a great beginning of the summer!
